Miguel Milá (1931-2024), born in Barcelona into an aristocratic family, began his career as an interior designer in the 1950s, working in the family studio alongside his brother Alfonso Milá and Federico Correa. During that time of autarchy and crisis, industrial design was practically unknown.
In the early 21st century, Milá founded his own studio, focusing on perfecting his techniques and prioritising noble materials. In 1995, Santa & Cole commissioned him to design the Neoromántico urban bench, which has been widely used for its ergonomics and functionality. Throughout his career, Milá received numerous prestigious awards, including six Delta de Oro awards and the National Design Award in 1987.
Gonzalo Milá (1967) is a Barcelona-based architect and designer. After collaborating with his father, Miguel Milá, and founding several studios, including Inés-Milá, he has made a name for himself in industrial design. His work includes projects such as the Rama streetlight, which won the Delta de Plata award in 2001, and various urban furniture pieces.
In the 1990s, he founded Gòtic Sud and developed innovative designs such as Tutombas Pranha, which won first prize at the Valencia Furniture Fair in 1994. He has worked with Santa & Cole and later returned to his independent studio, where he continues to design urban objects known for their versatility and functionality in various European cities.
