Citizens since 1987

At Construmat, urbidermis shares its vision of the city through a curated selection of elements that engage in dialogue with both space and people. In a proposal designed by cierto estudio, it creates environments where nature and urban life grow in harmony. Because only by asking the right questions can we offer useful, responsible, and shared answers. Each set expresses a vision of public space, yet all are rooted in the same essence: placing people at the centre and making cities more liveable, sustainable, and vibrant.

urbidermis stands for a more humane and personal city. A calmer city. One that values comfort and conversation. Street furniture, lighting, microarchitecture, and trees that fulfil both functional and emotional needs. The city belongs to everyone. And we remember what we feel.

Stand 110

The street: an extension of our domestic spaces

urbidermis‘ stand at Construmat stems from deep reflection: life between buildings is a natural extension of our domestic spaces.

The scenography recreates the ground floor experience of a street—a vital strip where architecture meets public life and where the street of our future cities takes shape, complete with shop windows, thresholds, and transitional spaces.

The stand is structured into spaces that reflect a human, green, and adaptive city. A city that places citizens and nature at its core. Each space presents a selection of products designed to enhance urban life through design, responsibility, and comfort.

01. Heritage and Origins

A tribute to urbidermis’ roots and the urban spirit of Barcelona. It includes iconic pieces such as the NeoRomántico Liviano bench, designed by Miguel Milá, and the Arne lighting system found in many of the city’s urban settings.

02. Nature and City. Urban Biodiversity

urbidermis advocates for green cities where nature and people coexist, giving the city a healthy skin for a fruitful civic life. Its tree nursery, Belloch Forestal, is committed to innovation and knowledge.

Belloch Forestal offers a curated selection of optimal cultivars for challenging urban environments—a palette of species backed by data. In Belloch, a growing 50-hectare site, responsible and continuous innovation drives its operations.

03. Human-Scale City. Comfort and Closeness

Increasingly, public spaces serve new purposes. Diverse ways to dwell. Ergonomic proportions. Low-level lighting. Materials with a pleasant touch. Comfort and proximity. Civil life has its own rules.

Giving cities a human scale, identity, and collective meaning. urbidermis champions a kinder, calmer, and more personal city. A city that embraces comfort and conversation. Elements that meet both functional and emotional needs. A home for all.

04. New Spaces

Through its elements, urbidermis aims to instil shared meaning in communal spaces. Spaces defined by the presence of others. Objects that set the stage for life and dreams, whether in public or private settings.

05. Purposeful Technology

The city is where everything happens—migrations, exchanges, services. A common ground for many. The city is the source and destination of all innovation.

Purposeful technology: When the city is alive, it feels

Nature and technology. More trees in streets and gardens, more data, more freedom to move, work, or play. The interaction between physical and digital space, and the pervasive presence of technology, reshapes how we relate to the city. Urban elements become sensitive—they can measure climate and social parameters, be remotely managed, and visualised in a digital twin. Emotions flow along the pavements. And urbidermis seeks to tell their story.

Basic

Basic addresses the emerging uses of private outdoor spaces. This product family, designed by Miguel and Gonzalo Milá, includes a bench, stool, and table made from powder-coated aluminium extrusion profiles—resistant to harsh climates and heavy use. The Basic Connected Table brings workspaces outdoors, featuring reading lights programmable to user needs, USB-C charging ports, and sensors to track occupancy, energy use, and temperature. It also includes Wi-Fi access and device connectivity.

Persol

The essential function of a pergola is to provide shelter—shade and protection. Persol includes sensors to measure temperature, humidity, wind, solar radiation, noise, and occupancy. The data gathered helps link wellbeing to real-time environmental data. The roof modules can include photovoltaic panels, and the structure offers adaptive lighting, Wi-Fi access, and connectivity across multiple devices.

Solana

Since 2014, urbidermis has supported the development of more peaceful cities through technology that centres people and nature. Solana is an autonomous planter with smart sensors for small trees and flowering shrubs. The plant container includes a 100-litre water tank, pumped using solar power. It is encased in durable panels and features local intelligence and sensors to measure irrigation needs and suspend watering in case of expected rainfall. It transmits information to the management centre on water levels and plant wellbeing, based on substrate moisture and temperature.

About urbidermis

urbidermis (Santa & Cole Group) has stood for good design, responsibility, and urbanity since 1987.

The company was founded on the occasion of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, with a clear mission: to renew the city’s urban landscape and position it as a benchmark for urban design. Since then, it has championed more sociable, connected, and sustainable public spaces where urban elements enhance usability and ease of maintenance.
