Ferran Sesplugues

Industrial Designer - Barcelona

Ferran Sesplugues is an industrial designer from the Massana School in Barcelona, postgraduate in design project management from the Polytechnic University of Barcelona, postgraduate in Design management and Master in Business Innovation where he specialised in business management and administration, both at the BCD (Barcelona Design Centre).

In 2004 Ferran Sesplugues together with his fellow student Héctor Roqueta founded the studio 2-0 Diseño. Both shared the same vision for their work, the design object must adapt to the person, and not the other way around, therefore, they designed open objects, that is to say, systems so that the user can adapt them to their needs. For them, what was fundamental in design was usability and function.

His path and interest made him follow the path of innovation and consultancy. From 2009 to the present he has worked as a consultant in strategic design development and innovation agencies. His role is to analyse the environment of companies, so that, from creativity and innovation, he can propose strategies to improve their business.

Since 2009 he has been working as a consultant in development agencies, he was part of the (d++) Design Research Innovation team as a Strategic design consultant, and in 2014 as Innovation & Consultancy Manager at Knowledge Innovation Market (KIM). Where he presented the Lean Startup method, which allows companies to maintain a direct and close relationship with their customers. In 2016 he collaborated in ABANCA, where he launched the Adobe Kickbox system that streamlines innovation processes.

He is currently Head of Research & Experience at LÚCID Design Agency, and Member & Entrepreneur advisor at Netmentora Catalunya.

Ferran Sesplugues and Héctor Roqueta are the authors of the Montana bike rack (2005). Montana is characterized by its modular design that collects the bicycles by the frame and the rear wheel at the same time, a very useful system that organizes and secures the bikes.
