Ferran Sesplugues

Industrial Designer

Ferran Sesplugues

In 2004, Ferran Sesplugues, together with Héctor Roqueta, founded the studio, 2-0 Diseño. They shared a vision in their work: a design should adapt to the user, and not vice versa. Their designs were open objects, systems that could be adapted to the needs of each user. They believed that the key to good design was usability and function.

Ferran Sesplugues

Ferran Sesplugues graduated as an industrial designer from the Massana Arts and Design School in Barcelona, as well as completing a postgraduate in Design Project Management at the Polytechnic University of Barcelona and a Design Management postgraduate and Business Innovation master’s at the Barcelona Design Centre (BCD).

His career path and interests have oriented his professional focus towards innovation and consultancy. Since 2009 he has worked as a consultant for strategic design development and innovation agencies. His role consists of analysing a company’s environment to then propose creative and innovative strategies for improving their business. He has formed part of the team from (d++) Design Research Innovation, where he presented the Lean Startup method, which enables companies to maintain direct and close relationships with their clients. In 2016, he collaborated with ABANCA, where he launched the Adobe Kickbox system for streamlining innovation processes. He is currently Head of Research and Experience at LÚCID Design Agency, and member of and business advisor at Netmentora Catalunya.

Ferran Sesplugues and Héctor Roqueta are the creators of the Montana bicycle rack (2005), which is distinguished by its modular design that secures bikes by both their frame and back wheel, thereby keeping them tidy and well-protected.
