Roviras & Torrente

Industrial Designer

Roviras y Torrente is a studio founded by Pau Roviras and Carlos Torrente, specialised in the design of furniture, lighting and urban elements and based in Sabadell.

Roviras & Torrente

Pau Roviras graduated as an industrial designer from the Elisava School of Design and Engineering and Pompeu Fabra University. Carlos Torrente obtained his degree in Industrial Design at Elisava, Pompeu Fabra University and the University of Applied Arts Vienna.

In 1972, Pau Roviras and Carlos Torrente co-founded their own studio, focused on the design of furniture, lighting and urban elements. In 2000, they decided to expand their services to include the automotive, signage and bodywork sectors. To this end, they moved to an old textile factory in Sabadell, where they decided to explore trends in industrial design and product development. In 2013, in Sant Cugat, they turned their knowledge towards comprehensive design with a strong technological component. They began to collaborate in the Klapcap project, before going on to found Klapcap Solutions. As they matured professionally they finally created the RoBot Design studio, a creative design consultancy. Over the years they have collaborated with recognised national brands in the sector, like Roca Sanitarios, Cosentino and Escofet.

Their work has received a number of different national and international awards, including the ADI-FAD, InteriHotel, Designpreis der Bundesrepubli, Red Dot and Design Plus Award (2005) in Frankfurt, for the Aeri and D38 project. They also won New York’s Good Design award and the Adex Gold award in California.

Pau Roviras and Carlos Torrente are the co-creators of the Caudal drinking fountain (2005), which enjoys an inclusive design for people with reduced mobility. Its formal solution, the position of the push-button and the faucet, and the anti-splash water collection plate provide functionality and comfort.
