Biography

Claudi Aguiló Riu obtained a degree in architecture from the Barcelona Higher Technical School of Architecture (ETSAB). In 1987, Claudi began to collaborate with the Projects and Works Unit of the Town Planning Service of the Metropolitan Corporation of Barcelona (CMB), a municipal entity that was subsequently dissolved. In 1993, he was appointed Director of Projects and Works of the Public Space of the Grouping of Municipalities of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (MMAMB), where he executed significant interventions in the public space, the Gavà-Castelldefels Seaside Promenade, Parc dels Pinetones en Ripollet, the fence of the Can Mercader park in Cornellà de Llobregat, Parc de la Mariona in Molins de Rei, the Salvador Gimeno sports centre in Sant Joan Despí and Parc de la Muntanyeta in Sant Boi de Llobregat. More recently, Parc Central and Saló Firal in Sant Pere de Ribes, Parc del Canigó in Sant Just Desvern and the new Municipal Swimming Pool in Sant Feliu de Llobregat.His entry into the world of design came as a result of his extensive search for urban elements that would mark the identity of a space or define its function. To cover needs and systematise solutions. Over his professional career, the work of Claudi Aguiló received various recognitions. He was selected for the FAD 2000 for outdoor spaces and the 2001 Vallès Biennial for Architecture exhibition, received a special mention from the judges at the Barbara 2005 Cappochin bi-annual awards, was selected for the FAD 2001 awards for outdoor spaces, the European Lanscaping Biennial exhibition 2003, the Catalan Construction Awards 2004-2005-2006, the 1st Triennial of Architecture of Baix Llobregat and Alt Penedès i Garraf 2005 and was a finalist for the FAD 2006 Ciutat i Paisatge awards. Claudi Aguiló created the AREA bollard (1998) together with Xavier Nogués. A robust steel prism cut through with a sheet of stainless steel polished on the inside to generate low-level, diffused light. Also the AREA 60 bollard (2020), of smaller dimensions but with better lighting functions, is ideal for public and private outdoor pedestrian spaces. Know more

Biography

Xavier Nogués obtained a degree in architecture from the Barcelona Higher Technical School of Architecture (ETSAB). Xavier started work in the Metropolitan Institute for Land Development and Asset Management. Shortly after, through the Grouping of Municipalities of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona (MMAMB), he was behind the recovery and conservation of parks, squares, streets and gardens of the city's periphery, and the improved urban quality of various beaches of the Metropolitan Area coastline.He currently runs the Department of Furniture Projects for the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, which develops new sustainable transport models and infrastructures to boost proximity economy, both for people and services. A new network of open spaces equipped with sustainable, re-naturalised connections. From 2003 to 2008, he collaborated as a professor for Architecture and Design in the Technical Architecture studios of the ELISAVA School. Xavier Nogués created the AREA bollard (1998) together with Claudi Aguiló.
