Rambla

1993

Restrained litter bin with an elliptical, robust and durable base. Easy to install and entirely suitable for smaller spaces, it makes for a useful solution for dealing with the requirement to offer elements that help preserve the cleanliness of urban spaces.

Guillermo Bertólez

Guillermo Bertólez

Guillermo Bertólez Cué is an architect. He is currently deputy director of the La Salle Higher Technical School of Architecture in Barcelona. During the first stage of his professional career, in the 70s, Guilermo was influenced by his constant direct contact with that built in the North of Portugal, works by the renowned Álvaro Siza and rationalist Fernando Tavora. This interest evolved over the course of his professional career, with his thoughts on housing, the human condition and town planning prevailing. A defender of bridging the gap between architecture and man, for Guillermo Bertólez, architects are the masters of works who handle measurements, proportions and symmetry, from the initial design to the minute details, with the goal of celebrating the social life that takes place within their works. The author of various essays and famous articles, such as El espíritu de la Barraca, o apuntes de cómo acercarse al hombre (The spirit of the Barraca, or notes on how to adapt to man) (2007), Katsura, Los secretos del maestro escondido (Katsura, the secrets of the hidden master) (2017). He has collaborated on various monographs such as Obradoiro, arquitectura y urbanismo (Obradoiro, architecture and town planning (1997), Quaderns d’arquitectura i urbanisme (Notebooks on architecture and town planning) (2007) and Recortes, aproximación a la obra de Fernando blanco (Cuttings, a close look at the works of Fernando Blanco) (2021). He has also spoken at various conferences and workshops such as "The square as a paradigm of abstraction: maths, art and architecture" (2018) and the "Architectural Projects Workshop" (2011). Renowned for his incessant academic and intellectual research, Guillermo gave a speech embellished with introspective personal parallelisms, reflections and notes. Knowing ourselves and committing to society, a vision he has been transmitting for some time as a professor for the La Salle Higher Technical School of Architecture (ETSALS). Guillermo Bertólez designed the Rambla wastepaper bin (1993) together with Javier Ferrándiz, a functional, robust, hard-wearing plastic element. A wastepaper bin that is available in different models and with multiple features. Ideal for a city that promotes civic responsibility and the keeping clean of public outdoor spaces. Know more
